Internship: Industrial Engineering at RCL Foods

RCL Foods seeks an Industrial Engineer to join their Speciality team on a fixed-term contract. This role is based in Centurion, Gauteng and will report to the Business Improvement Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

• BTech or BSc Degree in Industrial Engineering.
• 2 years industry experience within Food or FMCG environments.
• Experience working with Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies is an added advantage.
• Critical and curious thinking.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Attention to detail.
• In-depth insight into manufacturing and operations.
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly strong Excel skills.
• Strong coaching skills in operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Review production processes and related information for process improvement.
• Conduct in-depth capacity planning for performance analysis.
• Provide data to sustain production targets and processes.
• Design control systems to minimize costs and production issues.
• Develop and implement process improvements and technological upgrades.
• Manage new product development plans to ensure integration into plant setup.
• Train and coach staff on new processes and foster a Lean culture.
• Develop tools to measure efficiencies and identify trends and process variations to establish a continuous improvement system.
• Advise on and initiate corrective actions to address key business metrics at risk.
• Solve complex technical/business issues, work with broad objectives, and apply advanced technical knowledge.
• Deliver coaching to teams on new developments, processes, and ways of working.
• Identify new investment opportunities for future growth and initiate/motivate for CAPEX.
• Lead new product development projects and advise on equipment requirements, capacity, and process flows.
• Help define new operational strategies, working with the operational executive on special projects.
• Ensure projects are implemented and successfully sustained through frequent process audits.
• Ensure identified projects have a positive financial business impact.
• Complete post-implementation reviews to ensure successful delivery and make improvements for future projects.
• Act as a catalyst for culture change towards high-performance excellence.
• Build and develop relationships with internal and external customers to ensure customer expectations are addressed.
