  1. Form Submission:
    • Applications quoting the relevant reference number must be submitted on the new form Z83.
    • The Approved-New-Z83-form can be obtained from any Public Service Department or on the internet at www.gov.za/documents.
    • Applications using the incorrect application form (old Z83) will not be considered.
  2. Form Completion:
    • Each application form must be fully completed, initialled, and signed by the applicant.
    • Failure to fully complete, initial, and sign the form may lead to disqualification during the selection process.
    • All fields of Sections A, B, C, and D of the Z83 must be completed in full.
    • For Sections E, F, G: Due to limited space on the Z83, it is acceptable to indicate “refer to CV” or “see attached.”
  3. CV and Documentation:
    • A recently updated comprehensive CV (with detailed previous experience) is required.
    • The questions related to conditions that prevent re-appointment under Part F must be answered.
    • Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other related documents before the interview.
    • Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by an evaluation report issued by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) (only when shortlisted).
  4. Submission Details:

  6. Senior Management Services (SMS) Requirements (If indicated as a requirement):
    • The successful completion of an SMS Pre-entry programme (Nyukela) as endorsed by the National School Government (NSG) is required.
    • Candidates must have proof of registration and completion of the Pre-Entry Certificate prior to appointment.
    • The cost for Nyukela is at the applicant’s own expense.
    • The course is available at the NSG under the name “Certificate for entry into SMS,” and details can be found here.
  7. Technical Competency Exercise:
    • All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical competency exercise to test relevant technical elements of the job. Logistics will be communicated by the Department.
    • Following the interview and technical exercise, candidates may need to attend generic managerial competencies assessments using DPSA SMS competency assessment tools.
