Agricultural Research Council

The ARC-Animal Production (ARC-AP) is seeking highly motivated students to participate in a 3-year fixed-term studentship program focused on Meat Science. The Researchers will contribute to ongoing research projects, assist with lab work and data analysis, and help prepare reports and presentations.

 

The ARC is a leading science institution in South Africa. They conduct research, develop skilled professionals, and support innovation in agriculture. They offer a wide range of services including diagnostics, laboratory analysis, agricultural engineering, and food processing technology.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with research projects in Meat Science
  • Coordinate work activities and supervise resources (if applicable)
  • Prepare monthly reports on research progress and data
  • Plan and manage your own workload
  • Utilize and maintain lab facilities, equipment, and materials
  • Conduct research support, diagnostics, and basic data analysis
  • Provide written and verbal reports on your work and findings
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and assist with presentations
  • Help optimize equipment, processes, and systems
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and technical services
  • Comply with all occupational health and safety regulations.

 

Requirements

  • Diploma in Animal Science or a BSc./MSc. in Animal Science or Food Science applied to Meat Science
  • Willingness to register for an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a related field
  • Proven knowledge and experience in animal science or food science
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Detailed CV (including certified copies of certificates, supporting documents, and driver’s license)
  • Non-RSA citizens with work permits must include certified copies, referee details, and an SAQA evaluation report (if applicable).
