This role, based in the AFA Cape Town Office at West Tower, Canal Walk, is part of the Outsourcing Finance Team. The successful candidate will be employed as a Shared Services Trainee, gaining real-world accounting experience while completing the Accounting Technician (SA) Learnership.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

 

Accounts Payable Processor

  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Verify invoices for documentation and approval.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate accounts payable records.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Manage vendor inquiries regarding payments and account status.
  • Support year-end audits by providing necessary documentation.

 

Accounts Receivable Processor

  • Generate and reconcile sales invoices.
  • Perform customer reconciliation and allocate receipts.
  • Maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
  • Process monthly journals and resolve discrepancies.
  • Respond to payment inquiries and support year-end audits.

 

Qualifications

  • Matric (minimum).
  • Preferably pursuing University of Technology finance studies.
  • Practical finance work experience (essential).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good work ethic, ability to follow instructions, and team-oriented.

 

About the AT(SA) Learnership

 

The Accounting Technician (SA) Learnership, sponsored by AFA, combines accounting theory with practical experience. It consists of three NQF levels:

 

  • Level 3: Certificate in Accounting Technician (NQF 3).
  • Level 4: FET Certificate in Accounting Technician (NQF 4).
  • Level 5: Certificate in Accounting (NQF 5).
  •  

Learners will receive mentoring, study support, and study leave to complete the qualification over approximately three years.

 

Salary and Benefits

 

  • Salary: R6,000 per month (gross).
  • Fully paid AT(SA) Learnership, including study and exam fees.
  • On-the-job coaching.
  • Study, exam, and annual leave.
